There is a double romance brewing between an Uncle and Nephew (Ned), matching up with a Mother and Daughter (Maria). There is a selfish little vixen named Ellen who wants Ned for herself and she will stop at nothing to make it happen. Ned is transfixed by the idea of Ellen's fiery and seductive personality, but he can't rid his mind of the beautiful and wholesome Maria. Ned travels to Ellen's home in England to sort out his feelings and Maria deals with her deeply hurt feelings back at home in Hays. And Ned is just confused, being pulled in two directions. Another good read from Barb Goss that was hard to put down.
As usual Barbara comes up with delightful stories of love and romance always a little different this is no exception I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one
Will Ned let his libido lead him or will he choose sweet and steady? Not being sure if he is over his old love, he travels to England to see if what they had was real. Will he return to the one who really loves him or stay with the one who is full of unrestrained passion? Where does his true love lie? Will he realize, before it's too late, that he's really in love with one and only in lust with the other? Thank goodness he has a strong faith and people he can talk to.
I listened to the audio book version of this book. It was the first time I had ever listened to a book that had both a female and a male voice actors. They are known as "The Duo". I found that having both of them reading the different parts brought this book more to life than if one person done it. The accents were off for the woman who read, and sometimes way off, however, I really enjoyed listening to this book!
The story was great! I look forward to reading more in the series! The book ended to me, with a cliffhanger. I was listening and then....audible thanks you ... WHAT? Come on!
What a cute story! As always, Barb Goss comes up with unusual plot lines, and this one is once again different. It’s a clean western with two girls vying for a man’s heart. At first, you truly don’t know who he’ll pick, but I was glad with his choice. This story has some unexpected exciting things happening and a few plot twists I didn’t see coming. I really like Ned, and I also thoroughly enjoyed his uncle and Maria’s mother. It was good to see old friends Evaline and Travis again, too. All in all, another home run for Barb Goss. The author amazes me. Received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
The Reckless Proposal is book two in Ms. Goss' Heroes of Hays series. It can also be read as a stand alone story. This story centers around Ned and his decision on which girl does he really love, Ellen or Maria. It takes a trip to England for him to realize which woman he truly loves and who he should be with. I recommend this book.
I absolutely love the story telling skills of Barb Goss. The plot and characters draw you in. Great story flow, and it kept me turning pages. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
